Abstract This paper develops a continuous-time current-based state-space model of a Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) wind turbine for use as a reusable virtual generator in wind turbine digital twin frameworks. The model is formulated in the synchronous dq frame and incorporates rotor-side PVdq control, mechanical shaft dynamics, and a grid Thevenin equivalent to capture dominant electromechanical behavior in a compact form. Model parameters are derived from SCADA data, and the virtual generator is implemented as a reusable simulation block. The model is validated using three SCADA datasets by comparing simulated active power with measured references over the same time intervals. The results show consistent tracking of SCADA active power trends across the tested operating range, achieving an average MAPE of 6.83% and %RMSE of 6.29%, supporting its applicability to power system studies and digital twin integration.
