Abstract |
In small sized ships, gyro stabilizers are effective in preventing rollover accidents and improving boarding comfort. The gyro stabilizer reduces hull lateral fluctuations using a precession torque of the gimbal generated by the moment of inertia of flywheel. The gyro power generation system can be used as an electric brake of the gimbal by connecting a generator directly to the shaft where the precession torque is generated and to power the load. The proper control is required to effectively supply the electrical energy of the generator to the load because of a difference in the output power of the generator according to the controls. The conventional control has a discontinuous power generation section because it generates the torque through current control according to the rotational speed. Therefore, this paper proposes the speed control to increase the output power section of the generator. The validity of the proposed control is verified by simulation results. |
