Abstract |
The prediction and management of harmonic emission into a power distribution system become important due to the increasing distributed power and electric vehicles. In this paper, the principles and validity applied to the harmonic emission allocation method of IEC 61000-3-6 and IEEE Std. 519 were compared through analytical proof. The goal of the harmonic standard is to fairly allocate harmonic emission limits in consideration of the customer’s load size and place to maintain the electrical quality of the distribution system. Although the two standards seem complementary, the emission limit results of the two standards are not identical by using different approaches in setting emission limits. Since it is difficult to directly compare the two standards developed based on different approaches, we compared and analyzed the results of harmonic emission calculations applying the two standards. As a result of the analysis, the difference between the two standards was large, and IEC 61000-3-6 was excellent. |
