Abstract |
Induction generators, like induction motors, generate a voltage drop due to a large current during the starting process. Induction generators, like induction motors, have different starting currents and torque sizes depending on the shape of the rotor. The induction generator goes through the motor operating mode before entering the power generating operation mode. Since the current generated in this process is very high, it causes a large voltage drop. Induction machines are usually classified into single-bar cage, deep-bar cage and double-cage types depending on the rotor shape. Each of these rotors has a different magnitude of starting and maximum torque. In this paper, we analyzed whether it is effective in reducing the voltage drop during starting of an induction generator by using the fact that the torque characteristics vary depending on the shape of the rotor. |
