Abstract |
Digital governor, which is a key control equipment for hydro power and pumped-storage power plants, is mostly designed and manufactured overseas. Therefore, when its parts are not produced or after service is terminated, it may be entirely replaced because spare parts and maintenance is not available. Moreover, the module test for diagnosing the governor controller cannot be effectively performed since it supply digital and analog signals to the modules in independent way. And also, it is difficult to analyze the output value for the input and the signals to drive the servo device. Therefore, this paper proposes fault diagnosis devices to perform offline test for governor controller of hydro power and pumped-storage power plants. And also, this paper presents the configuration and operation mechanism of the governor controller for 7MW hydro power and 250MW pumped-storage power plants and then implements diagnosis devices for digital governor controller of hydro power and pumped-storage power plants. From the test results according to the operation mechanism and diagnosis devices, it is confirmed that the proposed fault diagnosis devices can identify the normal operation characteristics for the governor controllers operated in the fields, and then the proposed devices are useful to diagnose fault in governor controllers of hydro power and pumped-storage power plants. |
